Turner Syndrome Community Day schedule for April 9

Turner Syndrome Community DayThe fourth annual UTHealth Houston Turner Syndrome Community Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at McGovern Medical School (6431 Fannin St.) and in a virtual format.

The event is sponsored by the Turner Syndrome Society of the United States, and the TS Adult Comprehensive Care Center at UTHealth Houston.

Turner Syndrome (TS) is a chromosomal condition affecting girls and women with physical traits and medical conditions caused by the complete or partial absence of the second sex chromosome. TS occurs in approximately one of every 2,000 female live births.

The UTHealth Houston Turner Syndrome Community Day is an interactive program focusing on gaining knowledge about TS and long-term care of girls and women suffering from the disease. Physicians will give short talks with Q&A sessions about medical concerns that affect people with TS, review current clinical care guidelines, and present updates on research projects conducted in the center.

A reception will follow the talks where attendees can meet with the center’s team and network with other individuals in the TS community. On-site screening tests for hearing, body fat percentage, blood pressure, and BMI will also be available for on-site attendees.
