May 16, 2019
Hello,
Tomorrow is the 46th commencement at our medical school—a day to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2019. This rite of passage is the culmination of years of hard work and dreams for our students. We are inspired by our soon-to-be graduates and newly minted physicians. It makes me smile to think of the wonderful things they will accomplish over the course of their careers. I know they will make us proud. A promise to our graduates is the unwavering support of McGovern Medical School.
Please join us at the commencement ceremony, starting at 4 p.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Our distinguished guest speaker will be Rita Charon, MD, PhD, professor of medicine and founder and executive director of the Program in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. Dr. Charon is a scholar and engaging speaker. I am looking forward to her remarks and to hearing from each of our invited speakers.
Congratulations to our students. Thanks to the families and friends who have supported you along the way. This is a special day to remember. We wish you the best as you enter the wonderful profession of medicine.
Warm regards,
Barbara
