Hello,
Thanks to each of you for what you do to make this a great medical school and a great community of people.
The current global coronavirus pandemic is an unprecedented event that is challenging each of us. University and clinical partners are carefully assessing the evolving situation on a daily basis.
Institutional decisions are being made thoughtfully with consultation of local and national experts and system leaders. The situation continues to evolve, with many unknowns. As a result, plans will likely change over time.
Safety is our first priority. We have a collective responsibility to each do our part to help reduce the spread of this virus and to protect students, trainees, staff, faculty, patients, and the broader Houston community.
Please follow CDC guidelines on steps to prevent illness—noted below. These include frequent handwashing, covering a cough or sneeze, social distancing, and staying home if you are sick. I want to reiterate the importance of social distancing.
I’ve attached a series of weblinks that are a source of useful information.
We will be sending a detailed communication to our medical students outlining educational and Match week plans.
Thanks for partnering with us during this challenging and critical time. I’m inspired by the sense of community at McGovern Medical School and the commitment of our wonderful colleagues.
Working in partnership, we will get through this together.
Warm regards,
Barbara
