Memorial Hermann Hospital Residency Program

The University of Texas Health Memorial Hermann Hospital (MHH) residency training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology is a thriving and vigorous program. We are a fully ACGME accredited, 4-year training program with 6 residents at each level.  Our main teaching hospital is Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) which has a very diverse patient population. In addition to MHH, residents complete their training with rotations at other area hospitals. They have a busy resident practice and their clinic is located across the street from the hospital. The Memorial Hermann Hospital residents share many of their educational activities with University of Texas Health, LBJ Program residents.

Our residency program is one of the few in the country that provides the unique combination of optimal obstetric and gynecologic experience, diverse patient populations at university, community and county hospitals, and active faculty involvement in an energetic invigorating academic environment. Our department is recognized nationally as a leader in patient care, education and research. We believe that our residency program is an excellent place to train for many reasons:

  • First and foremost, our current residents are top notch! They are dedicated physicians with unbridled enthusiasm and a penchant for learning.
  • Secondly, our faculty shares a passion for teaching and excellence in patient care. The faculty aims to be always available to foster evidence-based management of patients and encourage independent thinking. We love our jobs!
  • Third, residents get a broad base of experience in general and complicated obstetrics, operative gynecology, ambulatory care and subspecialty services in several Houston hospitals.

At the completion of training, residents are actively recruited regionally and nationally to enter private practice, join academic departments, or pursue fellowship positions in the top programs around the country.
