Fellowship Programs

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at McGovern Medical School offers three clinical fellowship programs.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship program is accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program is a three-year training program that provides both strong clinical and basic science experience to prepare individuals for an academic career and clinical practice. The program currently accepts four fellows to the program per year.

Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (FMIGS)

The Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (FMIGS) at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is a two-year program affiliated with renowned hospitals located within the world’s most acclaimed medical center in the nation’s fourth largest city. Here, research and clinical experiences are fully integrated.  Ours fellows will interact with a large volume of simple and advanced surgical cases in benign gynecology, pediatric and reproductive surgery, as well as urogynecology. This will take place under close faculty supervision. The program trains fellows in hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, robotic, vaginal, single site and vaginal natural orifice surgery (vNOTES). Surgical experience takes place at the academic center and at Memorial Hermann Hospital system and affiliated county and community hospitals in Houston.

Fetal Intervention Fellowship

The Fetal Center at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and affiliated with the physicians at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School is a well-established quaternary referral center for complex fetal anomalies. Established in 2011, The Fetal Center at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital is a national referral center and an international leader in fetal diagnosis, fetal intervention and comprehensive fetal care for infants with congenital anomalies or genetic abnormalities. The Fetal Intervention Fellowship is a 2-year training program offering hands-on experience and unique clinical training to prepare individuals for a career and clinical practice in fetal therapy.

Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Fellowship Program

The McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Fellowship training program is an evolving program that began in July 2017 as the third Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Fellowship training program to be implemented in the the United States.

 

Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship Training Program

The fellowship is twelve months in length. Fellows will be appointed through the Graduate Medical Education Office McGovern Medical School, and they will be given a faculty position in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science as a clinical instructor. Salary level will commensurate with their previous number of years of training.
