Educational Philosophy
As a full-time clinician-educator, my dual roles are focused on providing excellent perioperative care at our level 1 trauma center along with enthusiastic education and mentoring of clinical medical students, residents and fellows.

Areas of Expertise & Interests
My specific clinical interests are in blood management, visco-elastic coagulation assessment, liver and kidney transplant surgery, neuro and spine surgery, orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery and of course, acutely injured trauma patients.

Past and Current Educational Activities:
I am active in clinical research with interests in management and monitoring of coagulation, transfusion and serve on the editorial boards of two prominent anesthesiology and transplantation journals.

I am dedicated to organized medicine and its actions to preserve and protect our future as physicians. I serve as past president of the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, a Texas delegate and member of committees for our national body (American Society of Anesthesiologists) as well as on committees and as a delegate from Harris County Medical Society to the Texas Medical Association.

These activities are in context of my annual commitment to patients in Guatemala with a Faith in Practice surgical mission team where I have been able to invite anesthesia faculty colleagues, fellows and senior residents.

Little known fact: Huge USA rugby and Aston Villa fan.
