Robert Cizik Eye Clinic

Eye Care Doctors in Houston

The Robert Cizik Eye Clinic has long been recognized as a leader in patient care, research, and education. The Clinic – part of the Ruiz Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at McGovern Medical School – provides patients with access to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary group of ophthalmology specialists who strive for the best clinical outcomes. Our researchers are continually exploring new innovations and treatments for both common and rare diseases of the eye. We train the next generation, providing clinical experience to residents, fellows, and medical students.

The clinic is located on the 18th floor of the Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza (MHMP), directly across Fannin Street from our previous location. The outer walls are glass, with views of Rice University, Main Street, Downtown, Hermann Park, and the Texas Medical Center. The Clinic is designed for function, and is esthetically pleasing with abundant art, attractive furnishings and unique signage. It contains the most sophisticated equipment available for patient care.

The 19th floor houses the Moran Pediatric Eye Clinic with 4 exam lanes which were build specifically for our youngest patients.

The 15th floor of MHMP houses the Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Texas Medical Center. Most outpatient surgery is performed in this new facility but some cases will still require Memorial Hermann Hospital. Two small certified operating rooms in the Cizik Eye Clinic to help provide surgical care for indigent patients.

The Robert Cizik Eye Clinic is dedicated to:

  • To provide the best eye care possible in a personalized setting
  • To act as a center for the referral of difficult cases
  • To care for indigent patients with serious eye problems
  • To teach ophthalmology at all levels
  • To be innovative in diagnosis and treatment
  • To make a flexible environment capable of adapting to change
  • To develop basic and clinical research programs
  • To provide patient education, rehabilitation and social counseling
  • To be fiscally responsible

With the evolving status of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak we want to keep you abreast of the measures being taken at the Robert Cizik Eye Clinic to protect patients and minimize the spread of the virus.

In line with state, and regional policies we are proceeding with clinical care with a cautious and controlled approach based on guidelines and best practices mandated by the Texas Medical Board and local healthcare authorities. These can be found at our patient care page.
