Internationally Renowned Expert in Facial Cosmetic Surgery Speaks at 2014 ORL Frontiers

More than 70 physicians and other healthcare professionals attended Otorhinolaryngology Frontiers 2014, which highlighted research endeavors and emerging technology in the diagnosis and management of common otolaryngologic clinical problems. Held on June 28, 2014, at the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and sponsored by the department of Otorhinolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at UTHealth Medical School, the CME event featured guest speaker Shan Baker, MD, FACS, an internationally recognized expert in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Baker, a professor of otolaryngology at the University of Michigan (UM), is a founding member of the institution’s Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery, which opened in 1990. A member of the UM faculty since 1977, he has edited several textbooks on reconstructive surgery and has lectured worldwide on the subject of facial cosmetic surgery, in particular rhinoplasty. He presented talks entitled “Principles of Nasal Reconstruction” and “Reflections on 38 Years of Facial Plastic Surgery.”

  • “Bridging the Disparity in Access to Cancer Care: The LBJ Patient-centered Medical Home” by Ibrahim Alava III, MD, assistant professor
