Biography

Dr. Brian Parsley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Parsley specializes in Total Joint Reconstruction with an emphasis on hip and knee issues and injuries in patients of all ages. His specialties include arthroscopy of the hip and knee, fractures of the hip and knee, and first time and revision replacements of the hip and knee, including partial knee replacements. He performs astroscopies of the hip and knee for the treatment of torn cartilage, labral injuries, and femoral acetabular impingement.

Dr. Parsley received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where he also completed his internship and residency. Dr. Parsley went on to complete a fellowship in Reconstructive Total Joint Arthroplasty at the Anderson Orthopedic Research Institute and the National Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation in Arlington, Virginia. During his advanced training, he participated in the surgical treatment of 500 joint replacement patients.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Parsley is involved in various research studies gauging surgical outcomes in an effort to maximize results. He is a consultant for Conformis, a company with patented technology designing and producing custom knee replacements. As the Director of the Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Parsley is instrumental in educating the next generation of joint replacement surgeons, as well as continuing his own education, staying current with new technologies and treatment methods.

Dr. Parsley is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Society for Arthritic Joint Surgery. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Parsley serves on the Board of Trustees for the Museum of Health and Medical Science and the Board of Directors of Faith in Practice, a medical mission organization.
