Biography

Dr. Mark Chassay is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, as well as the Department of Family and Community Medicine at at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Dr. Chassay also serves as the Associate Dean for Alumni Affairs and the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs.

Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Chassay specializes in Primary Care Sports Medicine, with an emphasis on the full are of the active person. Dr. Chassay provides non-operative management of injuries and injury prevention, to health maintenance and treatment of the common cold. With his background in Sports Medicine, Dr. Chassay provides coverage for the University of Houston.

Dr. Chassay received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where he also completed his Family Medicine residency. Dr. Chassay went on to complete a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana, California. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Chassay has also earned a Masters Degree in Education, Kinesiology & Sports Medicine from The University of Texas at Austin and completed the Healthcare Executive Master of Business Administration program at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas.

Dr. Chassay is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians.
