Biography

Dr. Norman Berkman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Dr. Berkman specializes in Internal Medicine with a special interest in preventive medicine.

Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Berkman received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his medical internship and residency also from the University of Pittsburgh. He went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and then completed a fellowship in oncology and hematology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Berkman also served as Captain in the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine.

Dr. Berkman has authored and co-authored a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has more than 30 years of international healthcare experience. He is a member of Harris County Medical Society, American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, American Board of Internal Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Berkman has been in practice since 1985 and his priority is to provide high-quality medical guidance to help his patients achieve their overall wellness goals.

Outside of the office, Dr. Berkman is actively involved in his community and enjoys playing golf. He organizes an annual Father’s Day Father/Child Charity Golf Tournament and Scholarship Fund. The charity event has raised more than $1.3 million for the First Tee of Houston and scholarships for inner-city children.
