Pathology at LBJ won the grand prize for an innovation project at the Semi-Annual All Clinicians Staff Meeting yesterday, March 23rd, in the UT Annex Auditorium. Dr. Kott presented one of eleven projects.  Her project was on improved handling of deaths at LBJ.  This had been a major source of frustration for both families and staff. The project reduced the time required to finish the paperwork by 96% from 2 days to 2 hours, got chaplains appropriately involved and greatly reduced frustrations and anxiety, especially on the families.  Finally, she documented the positive quality assurance value of autopsies.

The prize was the result of a vote of all attendees at the meeting.  Congratulations!
