Ricardo Mosquera, MDI am pleased to let you all know that I am appointing Ricardo Mosquera, MD as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy/Immunology and Sleep Medicine effective January 1, 2022.

Dr. Mosquera completed his medical education at the Univeraity of Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico followed by residency at TAMU-Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, and fellowship training here at UTHealth Houston.  He joined our faculty in 2010 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2015. Dr. Mosquera’s work as a clinician-scientist has combined busy clinical responsibilities with nationally-recognized research focused on high quality services for medically complex children.   As director of the High Risk Newborn Clinic, he has developed innovative systems of care that have been demonstrated, using rigorous research methods, to provide cost-effective, high quality services for these children.  He has many other clinical and academic interests, including management of ciliary dyskinesia, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and training of residents and fellows.

Dr. Mosquera will succeed James Stark, MD PhD, who has led the division since 2011.  I am grateful for Dr. Stark’s leadership and service in this important clinical and academic program.  We are all glad that he will continue to serve as Professor in the division, supporting Dr. Mosquera in his new leadership role.

Please congratulate Dr. Mosquera—we are looking forward to seeing him execute his ambitious vision for the next stage of the Division!
