As part of my fellowship, I enrolled patients while on-call for the stroke service. Duties including identifying eligible patients, notifying clinical trial staff, and consenting patients for enrollment

2021-Current: The TESLA Trial: Thrombectomy for Emergent Salvage of Large Anterior Circulation Ischemic Stroke. Co-Investigator. As part of my fellowship, I enrolled patients while on-call for the stroke service. Duties including notifying clinical trial staff and prospectively identifying patients that met trial criteria.

2021-Current: Basilar Artery Characteristics by Transcranial Doppler in Pediatric
Patients with Sickle Cell Disease. Principal Investigator. I designed a study protocol to assess basilar artery trans-cranial doppler characteristics from a clinical database maintained at UT Health Science Center. Working with our ultrasound technicians, hematologists, and pediatric residents, we are extracting basilar artery ultrasonology data to look for associations with different clinical characteristics in pediatric patients with sickle cell.

2020-Current: Cerner Electronic Health Record Stroke Research Group. Pediatric Working Group. Member in a collaborative working group with the stroke division, pediatric neurology division, and UT Health Science Center at Houston School of Biostatistics to use electronic health record datasets to create case-control studies looking at risk factors for pediatric and neonatal stroke. I oversee and guide students in the graduate school of Biostatistics, Doctorate of Nurse Practice program, and Medical Students.

2020-Current: International Pediatric Stroke Study. Site Principal Investigator. I enrolled Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital as a member site for the International Pediatric Stroke Study. I obtained approval from study leadership to be our institutional principal investigator as a fellow, with faculty supervision.

2020-Current: Perinatal Arterial Stroke: A Multi-site Randomized Controlled Trial of Intensive Infant Rehabilitation (I-ACQUIRE). Co-Investigator. I recruit and screen patients for participation in the I-ACQUIRE trial. Most of the enrollment came directly from my pediatric stroke clinic.
