Course Overview
Bipolar Disorder is a chronic psychiatric disorder. It cases severe functional impairment in many cases related to mood swings and cognitive impairment. Bipolar Disorder is highly likely to occur with other psychiatric and medical diagnoses, but these are not always obvious. The presence of a comorbid condition in Bipolar Disorder increases the risk of complications, anxiety, CVD, substance abuse and other medical conditions. There have been advances in recognition and treatment of these co-occurring disorders in recent years.
The 2022 Houston Mood Disorders Conference will explore the public health significance of Bipolar Disorder and the extent to which this may justify the development of early intervention strategies for this disorder. Additionally, there have been advances in recognition and treatment of these co-occurring disorders in recent years. It is important for health care practitioners to be able to recognize co-occurring illnesses in bipolar disorder.
Research over the past decades about the effectiveness and safety of specific behavioral and pharmacologic treatments for Bipolar disorder have shown several advances but in many cases, the use of combined therapies are not recommended for several cases.
Join us for this conference to hear the latest in bipolar disorder practices and research. This conference is intended for medical professionals, including physicians, psychologists, scientists, nurses and nurses practitioners, physicians assistants, social workers, as well as residents, fellows, interns, and medical students.
