The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic provides evaluations and treatment for children and adolescents who are manifesting signs and symptoms of an emerging personality disorder. In-depth psychological testing performed by licensed clinical psychologists are used to clarify the diagnosis and inform the treatment approach. There are a number of therapeutic assessment and treatment options available ranging from medication to psychotherapy and group or family therapy.
Our clinicians are also skilled in the psychotherapy modalities used to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD). Evidence has demonstrated the effectiveness of psychotherapy in treating BPD, which is often characterized by the mood swings, self-harm, substance use, self-hatred, unhealthy relationships, impulsive, self-destructive behaviors, poor anger management, repeated suicidal thoughts, threats or attempts and a history of trauma.
