The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic provides second opinion assessments for children and adolescents. Second opinions can be helpful in clarifying a child’s diagnosis, obtaining a better understanding of current symptoms and behaviors, as well as receiving recommendations for follow-up treatment. Assessments are conducted by an inter-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and senior social workers, who have advanced training and experience in child and adolescent psychiatry. Our mental health professionals with expertise in a variety of treatments are also available for evaluations and consultations through the process.
The assessment team will review the child or adolescent’s medical history, psychological functioning, prior treatment interventions and family/relational systems, as well as specific areas that the client or family identifies. This process will allow our professionals to have a comprehensive understanding of the patient’s current needs across all areas of functioning. At the end of the assessment period, our mental health professionals will present a detailed report of the findings with treatment recommendations.
