Biography

Bobby Nix, MD, is associate professor and vice chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He also serves as the director of UT Physicians Behavioral Health Outpatient Services. Nix is one of the leading providers at the UT Physicians Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic, treating a wide range of mental health conditions such as addiction, anxiety/OCD, bipolar disorder, depression, and binge eating disorders. He believes in educating his patients so they have a better understanding of their condition and treatment options and works with them to better manage their mental health.

He completed both his medical school and general psychiatry residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center. He is board certified in adult psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and in addiction medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. As one of the attending physicians supervising the residents in the Third Year Psychiatry Resident Clinic, Nix has received the UTHealth McGovern Medical School Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award three times. He is also an active member of several professional organizations including the American Psychiatric Association, American Society of Addiction Medicine, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, Houston Psychiatric Society, and more. While he is not caring for his patients, Nix enjoys working in his yard and spending time with his family.
