Biography

Madhavi K. Reddy, Ph.D. joined the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in 2014 as an Assistant Professor. She is also the Director of the Clinical and Translational Research Program on Traumatic Stress and Director of the Stress, Trauma, and Recovery Services (STARS) specialty clinic at the UT Physicians Outpatient Clinic, located in the Behavioral and Biomedical Sciences Building (BBSB). She holds appointments as Adjunct Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and as a Research Psychologist at the Providence VA Medical Center.

Dr. Reddy is a licensed psychologist with clinical expertise in evidence-based treatments for PTSD and other stress-related and anxiety disorders. Her research focuses on the consequences of trauma exposure across the lifespan and the phenomenology of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Specifically, she is interested in the novel assessment of malleable cognitive and affective risk factors that develop and maintain symptoms of PTSD and the development of adjunctive treatments targeting these mechanisms. Her studies undertake a translational approach rooted in the biopsychosocial model in which multiple units of analysis are investigated with the ultimate goal of developing, implementing, and disseminating effective treatments for trauma survivors. Populations of interest include, but are not limited to, combat veterans and survivors of interpersonal violence. In addition, Dr. Reddy is involved with the training and clinical supervision of psychology doctoral students, psychiatry residents and psychology interns.
