Residents complete the majority of ACGME curriculum requirements during the first three years of residency. A sample curriculum is shown below:
|# R1 Rotations||# R2 Rotations||# R3 Rotations||# R4 Rotations|
|Abdomen / Fluoroscopy||4||2|
|Vascular and Interventional||2||1|
Night float rotations take place at all three affiliated hospitals. At Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital and Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, the shifts are overseen by a staff radiologist. At MD Anderson Cancer Center, second-year residents retain the experience of independent on-site call.
Our large residency program and multiple affiliated hospitals allow our fourth year residents the flexibility to pursue their desired concentration during the fourth year. Some may elect for a “mini-fellowship” with up to four months allowed in a single subspecialty including independent research.
All residents are afforded the opportunity and encouraged to attend the American Institute of Radiologic Pathology course during their third year.
