Blackwell named president of Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine

The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) named Dr. Sean Blackwell, professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at McGovern Medical School, its newest president in early February.

Black History Month

This year’s Annual Black History Month Program, presented by the McGovern Medical School Chapter of the Student National Medical Association and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, will feature Dr. Valerae Lewis, chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 16 in MSB 5.001 (Fifth Floor Gallery). Lunch will be provided and all are welcome!

Congratulations to the winners the Spring 2018 Postdoctoral Travel awards: Dr. Aleix Ribas Latre, Institute for Molecular Medicine – Center for Metabolic and Degenerative Diseases Lab of Dr. Kristin L. Mahan; and Dr. Manoj Dandekar, Internal Medicine – Cardiology, Lab of Dr. Shaoling Huang. Supported by the Office of the Dean, each winning postdoc will be awarded up to $1000 in travel funds to present their research at a national or international conference.
