_edited_Blake Henchcliffe Surgery Award with_Blur smallFormer Amarillo police officer turned McGovern School of Medicine Student Blake Henchcliffe, M.B.A., MS2 was recently honored at the 2016 Academic Surgical Congress for his research in the field of risk mitigation in hernia surgery.  Blake’s manuscript, entitled “Barriers to Participation in Preoperative Risk-Reduction Programs Prior to Ventral Hernia Repair: An Assessment of Underserved Patients at a Safety-Net Hospital” received a Student Research Award from the Association for Academic Surgery.
