Wang Named President-Elect for the International Society for Sexual Medicine

Run Wang, MDRun Wang, MD, FACS, Professor of Surgery and the Cecil M. Crigler, MD Endowed Chair in Urology at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston, and Clinical Professor of Urology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center was elected as the President-elect for the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) during the World Meeting for Sexual Medicine (WMSM) in Miami, Florida from October 26 to October 30, 2022. Dr. Wang will serve as the President-elect for ISSM for two years and then start his Presidency for ISSM from 2024 to 2026.

Established over 40 years ago, the ISSM is an international association for multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and scientists interested in advancing male and female sexual health globally. The mission of the ISSM is to promote the highest standards of care in sexual medicine and to provide the largest and best platform for exchanging ideas and the latest research in the field. The ISSM has more than 3000 members across the globe, with more than seven affiliated regional societies worldwide. The ISSM owns four medical journals that publish high-quality scientific manuscripts or surgical videos in the field of sexual medicine. The ISSM holds the World Meeting for Sexual Medicine (WMSM) annually.

Dr. Wang published extensively in the fields of urology, andrology, men’s health, and sexual medicine. He has served as co-editor, guest editor, deputy editor, associate editor, and editorial member for many medical journals. He was a panelist for WHO/ISSM-sponsored International Consultations on Sexual Medicine in 2009 and 2015. Dr. Wang also holds honorary/concurrent/visiting professorships in numerous national and international universities. Most recently, Dr. Wang served as the President of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA).
