Biography

Laura Moore decided she wanted to be a doctor in elementary school. “I always thought my pediatrician was really cool – an interesting, resilient person with a fun job,” she says. In college at Texas A&M, she narrowed her career aspirations to being a trauma surgeon, and the rest is history.

“I like my job because you have to think a lot. You have to know a lot of medicine in order to be a good trauma surgeon. And it’s very challenging. Most surgeons like to be challenged. I think it’s a personality trait you’ll find in all of us here,” she adds.

This avid runner, a veteran of 17 marathons, enjoys food, wine and travel. She also loves music. In college at A&M, she was on the host and reception committee for Town Hall, the campus organization that brings in musical acts. “I got to pick up Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, Clay Walker, the Neville Brothers and the Indigo Girls!”

Asked to choose an alternative career, Moore volunteers that she would be an artist. “I love to paint, but I’m just not good enough at it. But really, I can’t imagine doing anything other than what I’m doing now.”
