Obos I. Ekhaese, DO is an Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery; Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth | McGovern Medical School). Dr. Obos returns home after seven years at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Ekhaese received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences – Pomona, CA, June 2000. In June of 2005, Dr. Ekhaese completed his residency at Michigan State University, Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital Medical Center, Pontiac, MI; and completed his fellowship at University of Texas at Houston, Minimal Invasive Surgeons of Texas, “MIST” at Houston Northwest Medical Center in June 2009.

He is a proud alumni of San Jacinto South and University of Houston. He is a co-author of the Bariatric Surgery Chapter in Yamada’s Textbook of Gastroenterology and Atlas 6th Edition.

He has a pending NIH grant on Patient Centered Project Evaluation of Neighborhoods-level Environment on Bariatric Surgical Outcomes.
