A Summary of Verbal Judo
Verbal Judo is best defined as a gentle yet powerful way of persuasion that helps us avoid, resolve, and manage resistance by using presence and words, whether to resolve conflict or to close a deal with a customer.
This presentation will provide a familiarization of the program. Join us as Officer Manuel Leston, UTPH Police Officer and Instructor, provides us with information on this vital conflict resolution technique.

Officer Leston is a UTPH Police Officer, Master Peace Officer, and Police Instructor. Graduated NYPD Academy and UTPH Academy, Non-escalation and De-escalation and Crisis Management Instructor. He recently received the 2023 Community Service Medal from the University of Texas System Police, the 2020 UTHealth President’s Award for Leadership, and was awarded the 2020 Staff Educator of the Year from MD Anderson Cancer Center.
