Committee
About
The UT Physicians Outpatient Quality Improvement and Research Governance Committee at UTHealth Houston supports the review of projects that advance clinical care, population health, and practice innovation across UT Physicians.
The committee brings together a multi-disciplinary team of leaders and subject matter experts including UT Physicians Operations, Physician Champions, Department Quality Coordinators, IRB, Epic IT, and data analysis to review initiatives for value, feasibility, and alignment with the UTHealth Houston mission.
By providing structured review and guidance for initiatives involving UT Physicians clinics, patients, staff, or data, the committee helps ensure that high-impact work is carried out responsibly and efficiently — making the most of clinical and operational resources across the organization.
Scope and Impact
Since December 2019, the committee has reviewed 132 outpatient quality improvement and research projects. Submissions have grown steadily, with 39 projects reviewed in 2024 and 33 in 2025.
