Graduate Medical Education at UTHealth Houston
UTHealth Houston is a nationally recognized leader in medical education, located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world. With a broad array of accredited residency and fellowship programs, our Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office is committed to shaping the future of medicine through excellence in education, research, and patient care.
The GME Office at McGovern Medical School serves as the central hub for supporting a robust community of residents and fellows as they pursue advanced training in a wide range of medical specialties and subspecialties. We work in close partnership with program directors, faculty, coordinators, and affiliated hospitals to ensure a high-quality learning environment and a supportive workplace culture.
As the official liaison between McGovern Medical School and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), our office plays a vital role in maintaining accreditation standards, overseeing program quality, and advocating for the needs of our trainees. From licensure and institutional permits to educational documentation, loan deferment, and grievance support, we are here to guide and empower our residents and fellows throughout their training journey.
The Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) provides institutional oversight and policy development to ensure all programs meet the highest standards of academic and clinical excellence. Together, we are building a community of skilled and innovative physicians ready to lead the future of healthcare.
