Residents

Integrated Vascular Surgery resident, Regina Husman, MD, poses as “Aorta Woman” for aortic disease awareness.

  • Clinical experience: Clinical experience is a cornerstone of our residency programs. Residents will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced faculty, gaining hands-on experience in the diagnosis and management of complex cardiovascular cases. Our institution is a high-volume center for cardiovascular care, providing residents with ample exposure to a broad spectrum of cases, ranging from routine to rare and challenging. This clinical exposure prepares residents to handle a wide array of scenarios they may encounter in their future practice.
  • Research opportunities: We strongly believe in the integration of research into cardiovascular training. Our residents have the opportunity to engage in research projects and scholarly activities under the guidance of our experienced faculty members. By participating in research, residents develop critical thinking skills, gain a deeper understanding of scientific methodology, and contribute to the advancement of cardiovascular knowledge. We provide mentorship and support to residents throughout the research process, fostering a culture of inquiry and discovery.
  • Didactic curriculum: In addition to clinical and research experiences, our residency programs offer a robust didactic curriculum. Residents will participate in regular educational conferences, case discussions, journal clubs, and Grand Rounds, where they will learn from expert faculty members, visiting lecturers, and their peers. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, diagnostic techniques, medical and surgical management, emerging therapies, and patient-centered care.
  • Professional development and mentorship: We are committed to the professional growth and development of our residents. Each resident is assigned a dedicated faculty mentor who provides guidance, support, and personalized career advice. Our faculty members are leaders in the field, and their mentorship helps residents navigate the complexities of cardiovascular medicine, make informed career decisions, and develop the skills necessary for success.
