MSA Program leadership, faculty, and staff came together on August 7 for an appreciation dinner at La Griglia, celebrating a successful FY 2026 as the academic year approaches the finish line.

Over a delicious dinner, the team shared stories, learning experiences, plenty of laughter, and reflections on the program’s accomplishments and growth over the past year.

More than a celebration, the evening was an opportunity to recognize the collective effort behind the program’s continued progress—and to look ahead with renewed energy and excitement for even greater collaboration. Each member of the team has played an important role in advancing the program and its mission to provide the highest quality education and training for future anesthesiologist assistants.

The evening was led by Naveen Vanga, MD, MSA Medical Director and Vice Chair for Education, and Charlie Phung, MSA, CAA, MSA Program Director. Joining them were Chaveli Licata, MSA, CAA, Assistant Program Director; Shane Cunha, PhD, Didactic Director; Rishi Kumar, MD, Associate Medical Director; Grace Cavazos, Manager of Educational Programs; Monique Henning, Simulation Technician; and Salma Chavira & Joan Vergara, Educational Program Coordinators.

Throughout the evening, program leadership recognized the unique strengths and contributions each team member brings to the MSA Program. It was a fitting reminder that the program’s progress is powered by people working together with a shared purpose.

With another successful year nearly in the books, the MSA team is looking ahead with confidence, stronger collaboration, and plenty of excitement for what comes next—as it continues working together to elevate the student experience, advance excellence in anesthesia education, and prepare the next generation of anesthesiologist assistants.

And if the energy around the dinner table was any indication, the MSA Program is just getting started.
