Michael C. Greaser is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He is a fellowship-trained orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon, providing comprehensive care for patients with foot and ankle injuries and chronic conditions.
In clinical practice, Dr. Greaser treats a wide range of disorders. These include Achilles tendon ruptures and tendinitis, foot and ankle fractures, and sports-related injuries. In addition, he cares for patients with bunions, toe deformities, and other structural conditions. These issues often limit mobility and daily function.
A key focus of Dr. Greaser’s practice is minimally invasive and arthroscopic foot and ankle surgery. These techniques reduce soft tissue disruption. As a result, they often support faster recovery. He routinely performs ankle arthroscopy to treat cartilage damage, instability, and impingement. Furthermore, when joint disease becomes more advanced, he offers cartilage repair and ankle replacement surgery. These options aim to restore motion and improve quality of life.
Dr. Greaser has extensive experience in foot and ankle sports medicine. Currently, he serves as team physician for the University of Houston, Houston Baptist University, and the University of St. Thomas. He also works as a consultant for the Houston Dynamo soccer club. Through these roles, he remains involved in the care of competitive athletes.
Originally from Texas, Dr. Greaser earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He then completed medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. After that, he completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He later pursued fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery at Ortho Carolina Foot and Ankle Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina
During his foot and ankle surgery fellowship, Dr. Greaser treated a high volume of elite athletes. His experience included professional football and basketball players. It also included members of the USA Track and Field Olympic team and ballet performers. This training shaped his performance-based approach to injury care.
Dr. Greaser is currently seeing patients at the Texas Medical Center and Bellaire offices. You can click here to make an appointment.
