Richard L. Beaver, MD, is an assistant professor and a board-certified orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of conditions affecting the foot and ankle. In his practice, Dr. Beaver combines advanced training with a patient-centered approach to care.

Moreover, Dr. Beaver provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for a wide range of foot and ankle disorders. These conditions include traumatic injuries, structural deformities, degenerative arthritis, and diabetes-related complications. As a result, each treatment plan focuses on both immediate symptom relief and long-term function. Furthermore, his approach helps patients return safely to work, daily activities, and athletic pursuits.

Also, Dr. Beaver offers broad surgical expertise across the full spectrum of foot and ankle pathology. He routinely performs ankle joint replacement, arthroscopic ankle surgery, flatfoot reconstruction, and revision foot and ankle surgery. Additionally, he treats complex foot and ankle fractures and manages challenging orthopedic trauma cases. In addition, his experience in diabetic foot and ankle care supports limb preservation and improved mobility whenever possible.

Dr. Beaver earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He then received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. During his training, he completed both his internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the same institution. Subsequently, he pursued advanced subspecialty training through a Foot and Ankle Surgery fellowship at the Foundation for Orthopaedic Athletic Reconstruction and Research in Houston, Texas.

As a faculty member at McGovern Medical School, Dr. Beaver actively contributes to patient care and orthopedic education. Notably, he remains committed to mentoring future orthopedic surgeons and advancing the field of orthopedic foot and ankle surgery. Therefore, education and clinical excellence remain central to his academic role.
