Biography

Christian H. Ibañez, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and a fellowship-trained hand surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He provides comprehensive care for patients in Katy, Texas, treating conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and elbow. His clinical expertise spans fractures and dislocations of the upper extremity, tendon, nerve, and vessel injuries, arthritis of the upper extremity, and sports injuries involving the hand, wrist, and elbow.

A Frisco, Texas native, Dr. Ibañez graduated valedictorian from Frisco High School before completing his undergraduate studies with honors at Johns Hopkins University. He then returned to Texas for medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and served as class president.

He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, followed by advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. There, he treated a wide range of traumatic and elective conditions involving the shoulder to the fingertips. His strong ties to Houston and dedication to patient care led him back to UTHealth Houston as a faculty member.

In his Katy practice, Dr. Ibañez offers both nonoperative and surgical treatment options, including minimally invasive procedures for nerve compression, tendon disorders, joint injuries, and complex trauma. He emphasizes patient education, clear communication, and evidence-based care to help individuals reduce pain, restore function, and confidently return to their daily activities.
