HOUSTON (2024) – Walter R. Lowe, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, has been named one of four recipients of the 2024 Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center (TMC) Distinguished Physician of the Year Award. This prestigious recognition honors his outstanding contributions to patient care, medical education, and leadership within the Memorial Hermann Health System.
As a nationally and internationally recognized leader in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, Dr. Lowe has dedicated decades of service to advancing musculoskeletal health. He serves as the Medical Director of the Memorial Hermann | Rockets Sports Medicine Institute, where he has played a pivotal role in enhancing orthopedic services and ensuring the highest standard of care for patients, from elite athletes to community members.
The Distinguished Physician of the Year Award is presented annually to physicians who exemplify excellence in clinical practice, mentorship, and service to Memorial Hermann.
