New Participant Information
We will be following your recovery closely throughout your treatment plan with questionnaires and functional testing as laid out in the timeline below.
You will be enrolled pre-operatively in one of the surgeon’s clinics where you will receive questionnaires asking about your activity level, ability to perform various tasks, quality of life, and confidence in your knee before and after your injury. Following your surgery, you’ll receive similar questionnaires to track your recovery at different timepoints. These will be sent to your email at 12, 24, and 36 weeks after surgery, and then again at 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10 years to see how you are doing long term.
You will also be contacted to schedule functional testing at a Rockets Sports Medicine Institute location where you will be evaluated by a physical therapist that will test how your knee is functioning. We have several locations across the Greater Houston area who conduct this specialized testing for your surgeon. You can view these testing locations by navigating to the Functional Testing Locations tab. This testing is conducted at 3, 6, and 9 months after surgery as directed by your surgeon & can vary depending on the type of procedure performed.
During these visits, you will meet with a trained physical therapist who will decide which tests are most beneficial and safe for you. This functional testing timeline has been implemented by all the involved surgeons and designed to better support you along your recovery. These functional tests are designed to help you return to your regular activities, which may include specific sports, daily tasks, and recreational pursuits. Your surgeon will have your testing results for your post-operative follow up appointments.
Prior to participating in this study, all patients (and parental guardian if applicable) will review and sign our consent form. If you have any questions upon enrollment or want to obtain a copy of your consent form, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected]. If at any point you do not want to be followed in the registry anymore, you may withdraw consent, and your care will not be affected.
