Biography

Dr. Donald Stafford is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Stafford’s primary focus is on joint replacement surgery. This includes the latest and most current technology involving hip, knee and shoulder replacement. He performs anterior approach hip replacement, as well as total knee and robotic assisted MAKO partial knee replacements. Complex arthritic shoulder conditions are also treated utilizing either conventional or reverse total shoulder replacement as indicated. He also performs a variety of minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures addressing non-arthritic shoulder and knee conditions.

Dr. Stafford received his undergraduate degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. He attended medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he also completed his internship and Orthopedic Surgery residency. Dr. Stafford was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons during ceremonies held at the Academy’s 69th annual meeting in 2001. Dr. Stafford participates in the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery Maintenance of Certification program, completing the rigorous requirements and becoming recertified in 2011.

Outside of his orthopedic practice, Dr. Stafford resides in Cypress, Texas and is married to his wife Kathy. They have two sons Conner and Aaron. They love spending time at the lake on the weekends. Dr. Stafford enjoys riding his motorcycles and is currently back in school learning how to fly.
