Dr. Taggart Gauvain is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
Dr. Gauvain specializes in surgery of the Foot and Ankle with special clinical interest in reconstructive surgery, fractures, arthroscopic surgery, sports injury and treatment, and total ankle arthroplasty. Dr. Gauvain utilizes the latest in Orthopedic care for all foot and ankle pathologies with both operative and non-operative treatments. His goals are to restore function and increase his patients’ ability to participate in the activities they love most. Dr. Gauvain also enjoys treating traumatic injuries and general fracture care in the upper and lower extremities.
Dr. Gauvain completed his undergraduate degree at St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas graduating Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, graduating fifth in his class of 240 students. Dr. Gauvain was then able to return home and complete his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery with The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He was awarded the Arthur M Jansa Courage to Lead Award during residency and was chosen amongst his peers to represent his program at The American Orthopedic Association Leadership Forum. Following residency, Dr. Gauvain completed a subspecialty fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at The Foundation for Orthopedic, Athletic and Reconstructive Research in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Gauvain is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society.
