Resident Benefits
The Department of Pathology offers competitive Resident Benefits:
- Resident salaries for 2023-2024:
- PGY-1 $65,589
- PGY-2 $68,044
- PGY-3 $69,884
- PGY-4 $72,707
- Residents receive medical and life insurance, along with professional liability insurance, at no cost. Additional elective dental and vision coverage is available, as well as elective coverage for dependents.
- Residents are supplied with office space with private desks and computers. Additionally, lab coats and pagers are provided to residents free of cost.
Educational and scholarly support:
- The department awards each resident a book fund of $800 annually.
- Additional compensation is provided for submitting and presenting abstracts at meetings with further funding available for published manuscripts.
- Residents receive five academic days per year, during which they may attend conferences or complete board examinations.
Resident wellness:
- Residents receive three weeks of vacation in addition to 12 sick days per year.
- UTHealth Auxiliary Enterprises provides a recreation center with a low cost for resident membership.
- An Employee Assistance Program offering services to assist in balancing work and personal lives is available through UTHealth.
- The Pathology department has designed a resident wellness room, allowing residents a space in which to focus on their well-being.
