Resident Research and Leadership

With the support of faculty and the department, our residents excel in research and leadership activities.

In 2022 and 2023 UTHealth Pathology residents have:

  • Published 1 book chapter and 30 manuscripts.
  • Had 65 abstracts accepted for poster or podium presentation at various conferences, including meetings of:
    • United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP).
    • College of American Pathologists (CAP).
    • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
    • Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB).
    • Association of Clinical Scientists (ACS).
    • Texas Society of Pathologists (TSP).

Our residents are encouraged to pursue leadership roles in order to build the skills required to be the leaders of the future. Leadership roles held by our residents include:

  • UTHealth House Staff Association President, 2021-2022.
  • UTHealth House Staff Association Secretary/treasurer, 2022-2023.
  • Resident Forum Executive committee, College of American Pathologists, 2021-2022.
  • Board Member, Pathology Resident Council, American Society for Clinical Pathology, 2022-2025.
  • Resident Representative, Membership Committee, Texas Medical Association 2020-2022.
  • Resident Representative, Medical Education Committee, Texas Medical Association, 2021-2022.
