McGovern Foundation has made a transformational $75 million gift to bolster medical training, provide full scholarships and support scientific discovery and innovation at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and its medical school, UTHealth President Giuseppe N. Colasurdo, M.D., announced Nov. 23, 2015.

50 Years of McGovern Medical School

50th McGovern logoLocated in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, McGovern Medical School was established in 1969 to utilize untapped resources and address a nationwide shortage of physicians.

Over the past five decades, McGovern Medical School has moved to the forefront of medical education, clinical care, and research, growing to the ninth largest medical school in the nation.

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, doctoral, and professional degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
