Dr. Danny Ramzy Named Chief of Cardiac Surgery Division

Anthony Estrera, MD, FACS, chair of the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, has appointed Danny Ramzy, MD, PhD, FACC, FRCSC, FACS, as professor and chief of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at UTHealth Houston Heart & Vascular, effective June 1, 2022.

Ramzy, a globally recognized leader in all forms of minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgical inventions, previously served as the director, robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery and an associate professor of surgery at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, California. He completed his residency at the University of Toronto and a fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

At UUTHealth Houston, Ramzy will also serve as the director of Robotics for Cardiac Surgery and the medical director of cardiothoracic surgery for Memorial Hermann.

“My goal is to make UTHealth Houston Heart & Vascular and Memorial Hermann a leader in the proliferation and adoption of minimally invasive and robotic surgeries,” says Dr. Ramzy.
