Soren Cobb and Joshua Wong Place Second in C. Frank Webber Prize for Student Research

As part of the annual Summer Research Forum, the C. Frank Webber Prize for Student Research recognizes rising second year students who conducted research in biomedical sciences. This year, two students within Heart & Vascular placed in the competition.

Sponsored by Iraida Sharina, PhD, associate professor, Cardiovascular Medicine, Soren Cobb, MD candidate, placed second in the competition for their work in Applying a Non-Invasive Pulsed Doppler Technique for the Characterization of Cerebral Blood Flow in Mouse Models.

CV Surgery’s research coordinator and MD candidate, Joshua Wong, also placed second in the competition. Sponsored by Gustavo Oderich, MD, FACS, professor and chief, vascular and endovascular surgery, Wong’s work with the Early Feasibility of Intra-Operative Positioning System (IOPS) ex vivo experience with Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR) demonstrated a unique ability to decrease catheterization time and allowed cannulation with zero fluoroscopy.
