Beierlein Earns 2024 McGovern Teaching Award

Students selected Michael Beierlein, PhD, as the recipient of the 2024 John P. McGovern Award for Outstanding Teaching.

The award recognizes excellence in teaching based on the following criteria: knowledge of the subject, interest in and enthusiasm for teaching, interest in and understanding of students, responsiveness to student questions, encouragement of independent thinking, and accessibility to students.

“I’m incredibly grateful and appreciative,” Beierlein said. “To me, teaching is not a burden but an incredible privilege. While I can’t judge how good my teaching skills are, I am spending a lot of time preparing and reflecting over my teaching. It’s fantastic to see these efforts recognized.”
