Mya Rodriguez is the 2025 recipient of the Terry J. Crow, PhD, Scholarship in Neuroscience.
Rodriguez received her Master of Science degree in experimental psychology – behavioral neuroscience from Angelo State University. Her master’s research focused on investigating how Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus), an edible mushroom with nootropic properties, impacted murine models of tauopathy.
Following completion of her degree, Rodriguez joined the lab of Andrea Stavoe, PhD, in the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy, as a PhD candidate. Rodriguez is using a combination of live, preclinical model microscopy and primary mammalian neurons to investigate how neuronal identity regulates the autophagy pathway during aging.
