Dr. Daniel Gonzales-Luna is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He specializes in Orthopedic Trauma with an emphasis on severe musculoskeletal injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle and foot, as well as fracture nonunion and malunion. Dr. Gonzales-Luna also has significant experience in Hip and Knee replacement surgery for degenerative and post traumatic arthritis. He speaks both English and Spanish.
Dr. Gonzales-Luna is a native Houstonian and was valedictorian of nearby Lamar High School. He attended Rice University where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and was a 4-year letter winner in NCAA Division I Baseball. He completed medical school at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) and at the top of his class. He stayed with UTHealth for his five-year residency in Orthopedic Surgery before completing an additional fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma at the Reno Orthopedic Center in Reno, Nevada under Drs. Tim Bray and Peter Althausen. His fellowship uniquely included additional dedicated training in Arthroplasty and Pediatric Trauma.
Dr. Gonzales-Luna is an active member of many professional societies, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Orthopedic Trauma Association. He enjoys playing and following sports and is a proud husband and father.
