Biography

Christian H. Ibanez, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.

Dr. Christian Ibanez is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon with a subspecialty in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. Dr. Christian Ibanez is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Ibanez grew up in Frisco, Texas, where he graduated valedictorian from Frisco High School. He then left Texas to complete his undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he graduated with honors on the Dean’s List. Dr. Ibanez then returned to Texas, attending medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. During his medical school education, he was inducted into both Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society and served as President of his medical school class. Dr. Ibanez completed his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Following his residency, Dr. Ibanez pursued an additional year of fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he treated a range of conditions, from traumatic to elective, affecting the shoulder to the fingertips. His experience in residency and love for Houston led him to return to UTHealth as an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Christian Ibanez specializes in Hand and Upper Extremity Care, with an emphasis on conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Dr. Ibanez provides both nonoperative and operative management of upper extremity conditions. He seeks to educate patients on their diagnosis and provide the highest level of care.
