David Rodriguez-Quintana, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic hip surgeon and associate professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at UTHealth Houston. He specializes in hip replacement surgery, complex hip reconstruction, and revision hip procedures. In addition, he treats patients who require knee arthroplasty and adult joint reconstruction.
As a fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement surgeon, Dr. Rodriguez-Quintana performs primary and revision total hip replacement using both anterior and posterior approaches. He evaluates patients who continue to experience pain or mechanical problems after a prior hip replacement. Many of these complex cases involve implant loosening, instability, bone loss, or component wear. When necessary, he also treats complications related to infection.
For revision hip surgery, Dr. Rodriguez-Quintana creates individualized surgical plans based on detailed imaging and clinical findings. He prioritizes careful preoperative planning and precise implant positioning. By restoring joint alignment and stability, he aims to improve long-term function and durability.
Beyond hip replacement surgery, he treats post-traumatic arthritis, developmental hip disorders, and complex lower extremity conditions. He cares for patients across a wide age range and considers nonsurgical treatments whenever appropriate. Throughout the process, he emphasizes clear communication so patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and expected recovery.
He directs the Center for Orthopedic Research, Innovation and Training (CORIT Lab) and serves as Co-Fellowship Director of the Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at UTHealth Houston. In these leadership roles, Dr. Rodriguez-Quintana trains future orthopedic surgeons in advanced hip and knee replacement techniques and contributes to research focused on joint reconstruction and implant performance.
After earning his undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University of Florida, he received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. There, he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. He later advanced his training by completing a fellowship in Hip and Knee Reconstructive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
Currently, he sees patients in Katy and Memorial Villages. Patients may schedule a consultation by contacting his office or requesting an appointment online. Dr. Rodriguez-Quintana is fluent in both English and Spanish.
