Biography
Dr. Munz is an Associate Professor, holder of the Walter R. Lowe, M.D. Professorship, Rochelle and Max Levit Chair, and serves as the Chief of Orthopedic Trauma in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Dr. Munz also serves as the Orthopedic Coordinator of Medical Student Education.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Munz specializes in Orthopedic Trauma with an emphasis in periarticular fractures and dislocations, fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum, malunions/nonunions, periprosthetic fractures, infections, and treatment of the polytraumatized patient.
Dr. Munz received his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University. He attended Medical School at McGovern Medical School at Houston and completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at Houston. He went on to complete a fellowship in Orthopedic Traumatology at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.
He is a member of the Orthopedic Trauma Association and an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has consistently been recognized for excellence in teaching for his work with medical students, residents, and fellows locally and nationally.
