Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery
The Hand Surgery Service in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston provides comprehensive care for hand, wrist, and elbow injuries. Our fellowship-trained hand surgeons treat a wide range of conditions, including hand and wrist fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tendon and nerve injuries, arthritis, wrist sprains, elbow pain, and sports-related injuries. We are experts in complex hand surgery and therapy, caring for both common and rare upper extremity problems.
We also treat pediatric hand conditions, including congenital differences, growth-related injuries, and trauma. Our team offers fast recovery with minimally invasive hand surgery when appropriate. These techniques help reduce pain, limit scarring, and support a quicker return to daily activities.
Our specialists deliver world-class orthopedic care throughout Houston and its surrounding communities. We offer several convenient clinic locations, allowing patients to access some of the best hand surgeons close to home. Timely care is essential for scaphoid and distal radius fractures, ulnar nerve compression, and tennis elbow. To support early treatment, we provide appointments within 24 to 48 hours.
Our Approach:
We take a patient-centered, evidence-based approach to hand, wrist, and elbow orthopedic care. Our hand surgeons use advanced imaging, modern surgical techniques, and effective nonoperative treatments. They tailor every plan to the patient’s needs and goals. Many people come to us seeking relief from wrist pain, numbness, stiffness, loss of grip strength, or injuries sustained through work, sports, or daily activities. We work to restore comfort, strength, and function as safely and efficiently as possible.
As part of an academic medical center, we bring the latest research and technology to every visit. Our mission is simple: provide accessible, high-quality care that helps patients return to the activities they enjoy.
