Concussion Program Research
Introduction
The UTHealth Houston (external link) Concussion Program conducts collaborative, multidisciplinary research to advance evidence‑based diagnosis, monitoring, and recovery following sport‑ and activity‑related concussion. Our research team includes faculty from multiple departments and institutions, alongside medical students and trainees, working in partnership with biomedical scientists, neuroimaging specialists, and concussion experts. Current projects focus on validating objective assessment tools, examining clinical, physiological, and psychosocial factors influencing recovery, and evaluating novel therapeutic approaches through interventional clinical trials. This work is supported by a comprehensive clinical outcomes database and is designed to translate rigorous research into practical strategies that improve concussion education, clinical decision‑making, and patient outcomes.
